Span Plugin
Span plugin by voxengo is my one of the favourite spectrum analysing plugin. If you want to analyse any song/vocals/mastered song you must try this plugin. It has some great features to analyse specific frequecies. It is absolutly free plugin to download and use.It is very important for a mixing engineer to trust their ear for mixing and mastering. But if you want to get more touched with the thing that what are you doing you can use a frequency analyzer. And if you dont have an option to choose between reliability in mixing/mastering and money ,dont worry. You have a great option to choose reliability without investing money on plugins. Voxengo span is free plugin to analyse your mix. You can load this plugin on any channel .As it is frequency analyzer you can monitor any sound individually by loading this plugin on any channel.
This is the plugin which gives an idea about loudness and it has loudness meter at right and bottom of the plugin. you can hide the information by clicking hide meter and statistics given on the top of the plugin.
Default graph by span is somewhat confusing.
Overview of plugin and its uses :
- If you want to solo any frequency (when you are on mater channel) and want to listen it isolately just click ctrl+left click of mouse button on the graph by span. this will solo the specific frequency. And if you want more precision click scroll down or up to make soloed band narrow or wide
- On top of the plugin you will find a color option at the side of hold button.This option changes your frequency graph color
- you can use hold button to hold/freeze the graph.
- You can get too detailed hormonics graph which may be a great option to know specific frequency information but sometime too much information is not needed.So to make the graph to look at it in normal way you can change it by changing the settings block size to lower values or just choose a satisfied smoothing values.
- You can also monitor mid/side sterio frequency information under rounting preset.All you need is to change the underlay to side mode to compare your mid and side information. Remember that its a preset you can make your own routing preset/map.
- You can also see both mid and side frequencies individually just choose mid or side option given at the side of routing drop down menu.
